The springtime shopping season is here and it’s time to talk about fashion trends. There are several prominent trends that transcended the runways and made their way into the stores, but I’ll just touch on a couple of my favorites to help get you moving in the right direction while shopping.
It’s no surprise that floral prints made the cut… they live in spring and summer year after year and for good reason, we love to wear them! Flowers represent a fresh start and who doesn’t like that? If being on trend is the least bit important to you, you’ll need to put a floral piece on your must-have list. If you’re not really one for wearing greenery, perhaps a trendy accessory like a cross-body handbag in a bold floral print would suit your style.
Like your fashion with a little more edge than the typical prairie dress? You should try mixing your floral print with stripes. This is one of my personal favorite combinations and it tends to look ubercool if done correctly. Just keep the size of the stripes in the same scale as the flowers and you’ll be fine.
Let’s talk maxi dresses. I’m stocking up on these right now for two main reasons; they look great and they feel great, especially if you have a few extra pounds around the tummy (like me, I’ve got baby weight… and my youngest is seven). The right cut can be less constricting and most comfortable.
Bomber jackets are the bomb! Okay, that was bad (couldn’t help myself). I know, we live in a tropical climate, why do we need jackets, right? Because sometimes fashion isn’t just about what you need, it’s about what looks awesome. I have very lightweight bomber jackets that I wear throughout the year and I love them. Get yourself one and I promise you’ll thank me.
Can’t forget about the shoes! I’m obsessed with loafers lately, especially metallic ones. They go with everything and are so comfy. I wear them with jeans, capris, dresses, and shorts. The loafer is a hot ticket item right now and they’re surprisingly versatile.
Remember, it’s not important to everyone to be on-trend with your fashion, but it sure is fun! That’s what it’s all about! Don’t take yourself too seriously and have fun with your wardrobe choices. If you take risks and something doesn’t work out, dust yourself off and try again. You can always contact me for a second opinion before you take the leap.
