The summer months are swiftly approaching and our family is always looking for new ways to stay cool and beat the heat in Tampa Bay! Lucky for us there are an abundance of sweet, icy treats around town. Here are our top 3 picks of places to just “chill out” and enjoy some tasty frozen desserts.
Snobachi Handcrafted Ice-cream:Located in Ybor City across the street from the historic Columbia Restaurant, this trendy, edgy destination is a perfect place to grab one of their signature ice cream rolls or “Dragon’s Breath” treats. Snobachi puts a futuristic twist on America’s favorite dessert. They craft ice cream rolls by pouring a thin layer of ice cream or yogurt base on a super-cooled plate. They offer tons of flavor combinations, all of which looked delicious. While you are there be sure to try the “Dragon’s Breath.” They use liquid nitrogen to create a delicacy straight out of a Sci-Fi movie. Dip brownie bites or marshmallows into liquid nitrogen, take a bite, and then watch your breath turn into harmless white smoke! The kids will be amazed as their food turns into a hands on science experiment.
Jeremiah’s Italian Ice: With several locations throughout Florida, Jeremiah’s Ice has been growing since 1996. We live blocks away from the Dale Mabry location so we stop in often for either an Italian Ice or a Gelati. They offer a variety of Italian Ice flavors ranging from Cotton Candy to Cookie Butter. My favorite is the Gelati which is a layering of Italian Ice and soft serve ice cream. Create your own combo or choose one of their recommended creations. My personal favorite is the Scoop Froggy Frog which is a mix of chocolate soft serve and mint Italian Ice. So yummy! The Dale Mabry location has covered, open air seating. Rain or shine, this place is perfect for day date or birthday party.
Hyppo Gourmet Popsicles: Thank goodness these gourmet pops can be found in multiple locations around Tampa, because they are AMAZING! We visited the new Hyde Park location. They offer up a enormous variety of all natural, Non-GMO popsicles. Hyppo popsicles have been WOWing customers since 2010 with their pure ingredients, and assortment of sweet and savory pops. With so many flavors to choose from, it was hard to choose just one. My kids loved the strawberry lemonade and guava hibiscus, and my husband enjoyed the pistachio rosewater combination. There is definitely something for everyone at this charming popsicle shop. These sweet, healthy treats are a perfect way to beat the summer heat. They change up their flavors every week, so you could go back again and again all summer long, and try a new pop every time!
