Dunedin Mardi Gras Parade and Festival–“Ye Mystic Krewe of the Mermaids and Mermen”

This event is a true family event. Music begins in our beautiful Pioneer Park pavilion at 4pm and continues till the parade steps off. After the one hour plus parade featuring over 50 unique and colorful floats finish tossing beads to the excited crowd, the party continues at the park until 11pm and spills over into the local pubs and restaurants till closing time.

Time:  4:00pm – 11:00pm

Cost:  Admission is FREE. Beer, wine, food and souvenirs will be available for purchase.

Lights On Tampa brings free access to artistic excellence that is fun and family friendly, includes a multi-level education program and presents a lasting element to our cityscape. Returning to downtown Tampa this February, Lights On Tampa brings free access to artistic excellence through innovative and interactive public art experiences.  The event is free, family-friendly and takes place two consecutive nights: February 20th and Saturday, February 21st, 2015 from 6:00 – 11:00 p.m. Both nights feature two choreographed performances of Nick Cave’s “HEARD Tampa” at 6:30 and 8:30 p.m.

Chinese New Year Celebration

This Chinese New Year is the Year of Ram. Year of the Ram symbolizes creativity and a new beginning. People born in the year of the Ram are artistically talented, great sense of fashion, romantic, sensitive and considerate. Seating is limited; lawn chairs are recommended. First 200 children will receive the traditional Chinese ‘Red Envelope’ as a gift. There will be kids games, arts, crafts, food and entertainment for all to experience. There will also be on stage performances including dragon dance, lion dance, traditional folk dance, kung fu demonstration, and Chinese instruments. Mini-Train rides will also be open.

Every Saturday the Museum offers a free drop-in art program from 11a – 2p. Come and let your children explore their creativity by creating an art project. No registration required.  Our projects will vary week to week to tie into the exhibition on view at the museum.

This week’s project: This week’s project is landscapes with layers.  Participants will use texture rubbing plates and crayons to create landscapes with depth and color.

FREE Yoga In The Park – Ongoing

Yoga Downtown Tampa and Tampa Downtown Partnership offer a one-hour FREE Yoga class in Curtis Hixon Park each week. This class is designed for all levels and is offered every Sunday at 5:00pm (at 6pm in winter months during daylight savings time change). If you have a mat or towel please bring it along with your water bottle to the north terraces. Come out and experience Yoga while watching the sunset over the city skyline in the beautiful Curtis Hixon Park!
