While many head out of town for Spring Break, many families take the alternative option and enjoy a staycation. As a former northerner, I used to look forward to escaping from the snow and cold during Spring Break. But now, living in Tampa, we have found that the staycation is exactly the R&R we need.
The rainy weather put a little road block in our original plans to go Strawberry Picking this week and enjoy play dates at the park. Luckily, we have some great backup options in the area and we’d love to share them with you.
My kids LOVE the library. From picking out books to participating in storytime, there is always an adventure to be had at your local library. Check out the Hillsborough County Public Library page for your closest branch and events happening this week (http://www.hcplc.org/).

GO to the Movies!
There is nothing more fun that watching a movie with friends. Grab the popcorn and sour patch kids and we’re all set! What’s even more fun is the opportunity to see a movie ANYWHERE! From the new XSCAPE theater in Riverview (www.xscapetheatres.com) to the AMC theaters (www.amctheaters.com) around town you’re bound to have a good time. Don’t feel like venturing out? Plan a movie day IN complete with pajamas, sleeping bags, and your favorite stuffed animal.
Have a little girl that loves painting her nails and brushing her hair? Then a spa day is the perfect thing to do over spring break! If you’re feeling adventurous, you can check out on of the 3 local kid-friendly spas in the area offering lots of exciting options for little girls and boys! You can also plan your own day at home. Make sure to grab your favorite nail polish, some basins and warm water to soak your feet, and brushes and styling tools to create the perfect hairstyle for that playdate!
