Weekly Library Events for Young Kids in Tampa Bay

A few of our favorite books.

I love to read – fiction, nonfiction, teen lit, children’s books – if you recommend me a book, I will give it a go, and I’m usually ready to recommend several on any given day. It stems from growing up with a mother who was a reading teacher and laid the foundation for my love of reading, as well as my interest in escaping to other worlds that I could only imagine. Thus, it makes sense that I love taking my toddler to our local library for as many programs as it offers. Some work better than others at holding his interest (dance parties are always a favorite), but it is apparent that he has gotten bitten by the reading bug.

This is week is National Library Week, which celebrates our nation’s libraries and promotes library use. To help facilitate their use and instill a love of reading in all kids, I’ve compiled a listing of recurring events in the Pasco, Pinellas, and Hillsborough library systems for kids five and under. Some require advanced registration (where noted), but most you simply have to show up. Make sure to check the website calendars for special events, and to see if the programs are happening when you plan to go (some go on recess for summer and other breaks).
