Baby Sign!

Miss Kathryn from the Deaf Literacy Center of the Pinellas Public Library Consortium will teach babies up to age 3 and their caregivers sign language. No older children please. No registration required.

The Children’s Gasparilla ParadeGasparilla

Pint-sized pirates take over the City of Tampa with family fun activities, floats, flying planes, and fireworks! The Gasparilla Air Invasion from 3-3:30pm features precision parachute jumps from the US Special Ops Command Jump Team. 3:30-6pm the Children’s Gasparilla Parade begins at Bay to Bay & Bayshore and ends at Edison Avenues & Bayshore. 7-7:30pm is the “Piratechnic” Extravaganza, where the imaginary sea battle between the pirates of Ye Mystic Krewe of Gasparilla and the City of Tampa is re-created.

Weedon Island Guided Hike

This is a hike through coastal mangrove and upland ecosystems of the Preserve. Join us to learn about the coastal environment and the early residents of Weedon Island Preserve. Be sure to bring water and a snack. A hat and closed-toe shoes are also recommended. All ages welcome – children younger than 6 may find this hike challenging. Every Saturday the Museum offers a free drop-in art program from 11a – 2p. Come and let your children explore their creativity by creating an art project. No registration required.  Our projects will vary week to week to tie into the exhibition on view at the museum.

This week’s project is ‘Field of Dreams’  We will make a landscape collage with patterns and images.

Movie In The Park – Maleficent

The New Port Richey Parks and Recreation Department, will be hosting Movies in the Park on Saturday, January 24th at 6:15 p.m. in Sims Park, located at Grand Boulevard and Bank Street in New Port Richey. The feature presentation will be Maleficent. There is no charge for this event; however concessions will be available for purchase. Please remember to bring chairs or a blanket. Young At Art – Student Art Exhibition

The Tampa Museum of Art will be displaying 175 works of art created by student artists from Hillsborough County Public Schools.  The work will be on display from January 11th to January 31st.

This Student Exhibition features the work of young artists in elementary and middle school.  The Museum invited Hillsborough County public and private elementary and middle schools to select one work of art to be featured in this exciting exhibition. The exhibition will be on view in the Golding-Scher Classroom and is free to the public.

FREE Yoga In The Park – Ongoing

Yoga Downtown Tampa and Tampa Downtown Partnership offer a one-hour FREE Yoga class in Curtis Hixon Park each week. This class is designed for all levels and is offered every Sunday at 5:00pm (at 6pm in winter months during daylight savings time change). If you have a mat or towel please bring it along with your water bottle to the north terraces. Come out and experience Yoga while watching the sunset over the city skyline in the beautiful Curtis Hixon Park!
