Radio City Christmas Spectacular

What’s your favorite holiday memory? One of my favorite memories is watching Macy’s Day parade and eagerly awaiting these special dancers who were beautiful in every way high step and flash kick their way into my family room.  I was amazed at their uniformity and gracefulness.

12 Days compressed

I had the awesome opportunity to see them live for the first time ever at the Straz Center in downtown Tampa.  After a 6 year hiatus, the Radio City Rockettes are back in the Tampa Bay area with an amazing show, The Christmas Spectacular.  They did not disappoint.
My date for the evening, my lovely daughter, and I were treated to a sweet surprise before entering the theater!  Of course, I had to stop and get the customary photo opp with dear old Saint Nick!

Looks can be deceiving! She really is beside herself with joy!

The show opens with a delightful reading of the Christmas Story by none other than Tampa Chief of Police, Jane Castor.  And then the Christmas Spectacular begins!  Snow globes filled with snowflakes fill the stage as the Rockettes make their entrance dressed as reindeer, bringing Santa to Tampa Bay!  Santa keeps the show flowing by sharing his quips of Christmastime.  The Parade of the Wooden Soldiers is definitely a favorite.  Next brings the Rockettes boarding a trolley for an amazing tour of New York City!  The special effects included in the number really do take us from Central Park to Times Square.

New York at Christmas

There are 12 amazing scenes in this Christmas extravaganza.  My 3 year old was engaged the entire show!  Score!   She laughed (especially during their adorable take on the Nutcracker), clapped at the end of every scene and at one point during the second act, even whispered to me “Mommy, I want to be on stage just like the girls!”  The show is definitely preschooler (and mommy) approved!

Heading to the show?
