With my little bundle of fun heading back to preschool a week from today and schools across the area starting this week (today for Pinellas, Pasco and Hernando and tomorrow for Hillsborough), I thought it would be neat to find ways to make the first day back at school special: for both of us! So I turned to my good friend Pinterest, and here is what she shared with me:
1. First Day Photo Twist
Take a photo with your kids showing your extreme happiness that this day has finally arrived! Yay for routine!
2. Back to School Breakfast
Okay you crafty mamas! Wake up bright and early and create breakfast your kids will remember all day long! Love this idea (just wish I had the time to do it!) You can even try a cupcake for breakfast with a candle in it. I’m thinking a certain little somebody is going to love that!
3. Favorite Things
4. Back to School Pillow Boxes
5. Back to School Fairy
Write a sweet note to your kiddo, coupled with a gift!
Create a fun graphic on your IPAD for an interesting take on the First Day of School Photo!
7. Mommy Coffee Break
Invite your fellow class mommies out for a coffee date! What a great way to find a new mommy friend!
8. First Day of School Celebration Cake
Throw in some balloons and you have yourself a party!
9. T-Shirt Fun!
Using an adult size t-shirt and iron letters, place year of your child’s high school graduation on a t-shirt and photograph them each year! Again, kudos to you for remembering to do this each year!
10. Read a Book–The Kissing Hand
I loved starting the year with this book when I taught the younger grades! But it’s perfect to read at home as well. Chester Raccoon is scared about starting kindergarten, so his mother tells him a family secret – the story of the kissing hand. Use one of the heart stickers in the back of this book, or draw a heart on your child’s hand for them to look at and think of you during their first day! Don’t own The Kissing Hand?
